Media Dialogue 2021

Video-Mediadialogue 2021

The Media Dialogue project is a network of young, aspiring journalists, professional journalists, academics and artists from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Germany, Moldova and Ukraine. The aim of the “Media Dialogue” is to support civil society structures as an essential component of democratic-pluralistic societies in the countries currently participating in the project. The project is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

From 19 to 28 September, members of the Media Dialogue network worked together in Georgia at Caucasus University and in Armenia at the Gyumri Technological Center (GTC). Both countries offered a tight programme. Meetings with journalists and local media centres, press conferences, keynote speeches and workshops made each day an educational experience.

The second part of the project took place in Lyiv and Kyiv (Ukraine). Covid restrictions in Moldova made it necessary to switch from ChiÈ™inău to Lviv in the western Ukraine.  From 21 to 30 of November 2021, members of the Media Dialogue network worked together in Ukraine at the Lviv School of journalism at the Ivan Franko National University and in Kyiv at the Institute of Journalism at the National Taras Schewtschenko University.

Students from all particiapting countries worked with the help of media trainers on blog articles, photos, video products and an artistic exploration of the discussed topics.

The recently launched TV format “Media Dialogue TV” brought the work results to the forefront by regularly presenting the programme, photos and videos of all stages. Within this context, interviews were also conducted, for example with the radio journalist Andrei Mialeshka from Belarus or Sergiy Tomilenko, chairman of the Ukrainian Union of Journalists.

In addition, a newly formed research group dealt with the similarities and differences between Russian intervention in the armed conflicts in Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine. This academic research group from all three countries will continue to work together beyond the project period in Georgia and Armenia.

A final conferences were held in the four participating universities. The articles and videos produced by the students as well as the results of the research group were presented and discussed.
