On November 6, students, lecturers, and journalists from the Media Dialogue project visited the 1+1 TV channel. During the tour, participants from Germany, Belarus, Georgia, and Armenia explored the main filming studios of the morning show Breakfast with 1+1 and the news program TSN. The studio of Breakfast with 1+1 is a spacious set with a real kitchen where the hosts cook dishes and interact with viewers live on air. There is also a nearby space where interviews are held and even small concerts take place, allowing musicians to present their new work.
Representatives of the channel spoke about the specifics of producing informational and entertainment programs, the studio’s technical setup, and the communication process between hosts and editors during broadcasts.
In the TSN studio, participants learned about innovative technical solutions, including a moving floor that adds dynamics to the shot. Special attention was drawn to a large cube made of TV monitors, designed by engineers specifically for the studio’s visual concept. Employees also explained the differences in approaches to creating news and entertainment programs.
The tour then continued to the newsroom, where filming also takes place. The desks there are arranged according to the BBC method developed after World War II. The layout imitates the sun: from the “core” of chief editors to the “rays” of journalists. This arrangement enhances communication efficiency.
TV channel employees shared that after the beginning of the full-scale invasion, many staff members stayed in Kyiv and even lived in the newsroom for some time. Flags of various brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine supported by the channel are displayed on the newsroom walls.
The final stop of the tour was the recording studios, where not only the channel’s own productions but also series and films are dubbed.
